Privacy Policy
Katae (“we”, “us”, or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.
1. Information We Collect
When you join our waitlist, we collect:
- Your email address
- Basic technical information (such as device or browser data)
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Send updates about Katae
- Share early access opportunities
- Improve our product and experience
We do not sell your personal information.
3. Analytics, cookies, and session recordings
When you browse our website, we use analytics tools to understand how visitors use the site (for example, which pages are viewed, how far people scroll, and general interactions such as button clicks). This helps us improve the experience and measure interest in Katae.
These tools may use cookies, similar technologies, or device or browser storage to recognise your browser or device over time and to distinguish visitors. They may collect technical information such as your approximate location (derived from IP address at a regional level), browser type, device type, and referring page.
We may also use session replay, which records a visual replay of how you move and click on our pages (similar to a screen recording of the webpage). We configure these tools to reduce sensitivity where available (for example, masking what you type into form fields). You should still avoid entering sensitive information on our marketing site beyond what you intend to share.
Analytics and session data are processed by service providers acting on our instructions. That processing may occur in the United States or other regions where those providers operate, as described in our section on data location and third parties below.
If you appear to be in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before loading analytics tools (including PostHog). To decide whether to show that prompt, your browser may contact a third-party service (GeoJS) that returns a coarse country code from your IP address. If region detection fails, we load analytics the same way as for visitors outside those regions (see Section 9).
4. Communications
By signing up, you provide express consent to receive electronic communications from Katae related to product updates, launch announcements, and early access opportunities. You can withdraw consent at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email.
5. Data Storage and Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information and keep it secure.
Your data may be stored and processed in Canada or the United States through third-party service providers.
6. Future Features
Katae is building features that may include voice-based storytelling. When these features become available, we will provide additional details about how voice data is handled.
7. Your Rights
You may:
- Request access to your data
- Request deletion of your data
- Unsubscribe from communications at any time
To make a request, contact us at: hello@katae.app
8. Contact
If you have any questions, contact us at: hello@katae.app
9. Third Party Services
We use third-party service providers to operate our waitlist, send communications, host and operate this website, and run analytics as described in this policy (including Section 3). Those providers process personal information only as needed to provide their services to us, under our instructions and their agreements with us, and they are not permitted to use your information for their own unrelated marketing.
Named processors relevant to this site include: PostHog (PostHog Inc.), which we use for product analytics and session replay; Vercel (Vercel Inc.), which hosts the site and may process technical or performance data in connection with delivery and Web Analytics; and GeoJS, used only to obtain a coarse country code when deciding whether to show the analytics consent prompt. For the waitlist and email updates, other providers may process your email address. For analytics and session recordings, providers may process usage and technical data as described above.
10. Governing Law
This policy is governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada.
