Stories in the voices your child loves
When story time gets pushed past bedtime, or you’re too drained to read one more page, Katae lets your child hear stories in voices they love. Pick stories you trust. Press play in the languages your family speaks at home.
Built for families & caregivers
For parents who know story time matters, but life gets in the way. Whether you’re past bedtime and still working through the to-do list, helping kids in French immersion when you don’t speak French, or trying to keep Korean or Hindi alive at home, Katae helps children hear stories in voices they already trust.
Built for multilingual families.
Stay close across distance
Grandma in Calgary. Halmeoni in Seoul. Nonna in Italy. Record once. Children hear family voices at bedtime, on car rides, or whenever story time would otherwise slip.
Keep language and culture alive
French immersion, English, Korean, Hindi, Tamil: hear them in the voices your child already knows, not some stranger’s audiobook voice. Storytelling supports language exposure, listening, and connection.
Make listening time more meaningful
Stories that open imagination: moral tales, cultural stories, and curated listening you’re proud to hand them.
Choose what they hear
A curated library you’d trust like your local library: trusted authors, moral stories, and family-safe content. You choose every story and voice.
How it works
-
Set up once, not a recording marathon
Start with included voices, or capture a family voice once, and Katae uses that same voice to narrate every story you choose, in any language you pick. No re-recording, ever.
-
Curate a playlist you’re proud of
Pick from family stories, moral tales, cultural stories, and author-written kids’ stories. You choose what they hear and in which language.
-
Press play, they listen
Bedtime when you’re wiped. Language homework when you can’t read along. Car rides when you’re driving. Press play while they follow along or just listen, screen-free.

Privacy & parental control
We’re building Katae knowing voice data is sensitive. Your trust is our number one priority. We want you to understand what’s collected, how it’s used, and how to delete it, and to stay in control of family-facing experiences. We’ll keep our Privacy Policy updated as the product evolves.
- Voice & permissions Consent matters: who can contribute a voice, who can use it, and how it ties to your family’s account.
- Privacy-first mindset Family audio deserves careful handling. We’re designing collection, storage, access, and deletion from day one, not as an afterthought.
- Caregivers in the loop We want you to understand what’s happening and stay in control of what children hear in the app.
- Transparent as we go Early access means things will change. We’ll communicate how voice, data, and controls evolve so you can decide what’s right for your family.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about listening, voices, and your free month.
What is Katae?
A family storytelling app for listening: you curate stories and playlists; children hear them in voices they love, trusted narrators or a family voice (with permission), in the languages your family uses. Screen-free listening built for busy families.
What happens to my voice recordings?
Voice data is used only to power listening experiences you approve for your account. Never sold or shared without your consent. Retention, access, and deletion are described in our Privacy Policy as we ship; we’re building with strict access controls and clear consent from day one.
Do I have to record every story?
No. Start with included voices, or capture a family voice once (with permission), then curate what plays, not a new recording for every tale.
What voices can my child hear?
Every plan includes trusted narrator voices and familiar character voices. You can also capture a family voice (with permission) and hear it across every story you choose.
Can my child follow along in a physical book?
Yes, that’s how many families use it. Press play while your child holds the book, flips pages, and follows along, or just listens, screen-free.
We’re in French immersion but I don’t speak French. Would this help?
That’s a common situation. Choose French stories from the library and let your child hear them in a voice they already know, a trusted narrator or a family voice you’ve captured, so French practice doesn’t depend on a stranger’s audiobook voice.
My kids notice when voices sound “off.” How does that work?
Children are sensitive to tone and familiarity, and so are we. If you capture a family voice, it’s with clear consent and only used on your account. You can delete it anytime. If a voice doesn’t sound right to your family, swap it or stick with included narrators.
Who is Katae for?
Parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, nannies and caregivers, and anyone who wants children to hear familiar voices and stories in heritage or home languages, including multilingual and diaspora families. Some families use listening alongside speech or language support with a professional’s guidance. Katae is not medical care.
Is this only for bedtime?
No. Use it for car rides, quiet time, routines, language homework, winding down, or those nights when you’re way past shut-it-down time and still working through the to-do list. A familiar voice can carry story time when you can’t.
How do I claim my free month?
Add your email in the form at the top of the page or the signup bar at the bottom, then click or tap Claim my free month. We’ll email you when it’s your turn.
